When I was growing up in the 70's/80's quite a lot of my contemporaries carried a flick knife. I think this originated from the Teddy Boys in the 50's.
However, few actually had the guts to use the damn thing - it was largely to threaten.
Maybe our regression back to an earlier economic system to win favour with the USA has resulted in a bolder more cynical mindset amongst the youth at the lower end of the foodchain.
Dickens explained it all so well with Oliver Twist - the message is true but maybe our perception has been over romanticised with memories of the film and Lionel Bart's songs.

The only surprise is that he didn't fit some white victimhood into there.

Funny old state of affairs when black blokes get the hump over being pulled by plod and political types call it wrong
Back in the day I remember white blokes not getting the hump being pulled by plod and political types calling us scum
Further, laws were created/adjusted to absolutely allow, white blokes feel the real force of the law, regularly fabricated by very profile

An elderly woman investigated on suspicion of a hate crime after beeping her horn at another car. The driver she tooted at happened to be black, and Thames Valley Police were forced to quiz the pensioner under current current hate crime laws.

It was this right ring government that demonised the Police. It was Theresa May as Home Secretary that said Stop and Search was racist and forced Police Forces to drastically cut Stop and Searches. This along with massive cuts over the last 8 or so years has resulted in the crime rate spiralling out of control. You would only have to watch some of her speeches at the Police Conferences. Nothing to do with the left whatsoever

Khan suggested a "public health" approach to knife crime and that it would take years for it to work. Coverage of that (and comments on here) said Khan was a leftie, light touch blah blah blah.
